Two new Kalmar RTG cranes are working in DCT Gdansk terminal. The productivity at the terminal is still growing.

The dynamic increase of containers handled by DCT Gdansk terminal initiates the continuous investment in new equipment. DCT Gdansk has boosted its handling capabilities with the commissioning of two new Kalmar E-One2 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs), complementing the eight Liebherr cranes already in service.
Two modern Kalmar E-One2 RTG cranes were ordered in late 2009 and delivered to DCT Gdansk terminal in January 2010 by Cargotec.
After assembling and passing the required tests, the new RTGs came into operation. The Kalmar E-One2 is the latest RTG model and meets the latest safety and environmental demands whilst remaining productive and cost-effective. The 7+1 wide and 1-over-5 high RTGs with a maximum lifting capacity of 40 tonnes are equipped with Kalmar Smartrail®, an autosteering and container position verification system. Additional performance-enhancing technologies such as an electrical anti-sway system, have also been requested by DCT Gdansk.
DCT Gdańsk CEO Boris Wenzel has ensured that DCT Gdansk is ready to handle increased traffic including the AE10 line direct calls of the ocean-going vessels by Maersk:
“The need to expedite the development of our handling capabilities has increased as more shipping lines are considering calling on DCT Gdansk. To help us with our plans, we turned to Cargotec not only because they offer market-leading equipment but as they could accommodate a quick delivery time.”
DCT Gdańsk already enjoys a dominant position among the container terminals in Poland. All customers recognize the terminal’s potential so dynamics of the containers handling is constantly growing. Currently, the monthly handlings exceed the level of 30 000 TEUs. Being the first transshipment hub in Poland, DCT Gdansk is becoming crucial to importers and exporters in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.dsc_0716

Presentation of the ACTIW LoadPlate device on DCT Gdansk terminal

On April 14th 2010 DCT Gdansk terminal organised a special presentation of the ACTIW LoadPlate device it has recently acquired.
The event was attended by about 100 customers and guests and demonstrated the modern technology of container stuffing which DCT is now able to offer to its clients.
ACTIW LoadPlate’s innovative stuffing process eliminates complications and risks associated with stuffing of cargo normally considered difficult for containerisation or susceptible to be damaged by conventional loading methods. It can easily and efficiently stuff cargo such as: steel constructions, machinery, steel pipes, steel sheets, bars, steel profiles, structural sections, as well as any other long or bulky units. It also significantly reduces the risk of cargo being damaged, as cargo is conveniently arranged on a LoadPlate outside the container.
The presentation was led by DCT Gdańsk’s management with the participation of a representative from Actiw Oy. It was followed by a demonstration of the equipment, and by a Q&A session.
The investment in Actiw Loadplate reflects DCT’s continued commitment as Poland’s leading container terminal to bring the highest quality service to its clients using the most modern technologies available.dsc_0708dsc_0720dsc_0737dsc_0795
